About Us

Alicia’s Place was created in honor of my Aunt Alicia (Lisa) VanCleve. As a young child I was able to see the blessings and hardship that comes with taking care of a loved one who depends solely on your care. Alicia, who was born with Cerebral Palsy, was given a life expectancy of 12 years of age. Thankfully she lived a full life until her passing in 2002 at age 42. I believe Alicia’s longevity was due to the care and love that was provided by her local physician, family, friends, and the community of Forest County. Growing up I was part of a team that shared late nights, bathing, feeding, and entertaining the most important person in our life, our angel. Though my family was supported by community programs, the 30 years of taking care of Alicia took its toll on my grandmother.  I knew one day my passion would lead me to serve this community and provide the much-needed care that Alicia received to other families in our community. This purpose led me to a career as a Registered Nurse who has dedicated her career to long term care and serving the elderly, vulnerable and less fortunate during some of their most difficult times.
